Worth the Price
Wanted to wait a few months before writing a review, but couldn't be more happy with this planer. Absolutely worth every penny, from milling basic 2x4s to an extremely figured pieces of maple and cherry, everything comes out smooth. Only had a few issues where the heavily figured areas will tearout a bit, but only a minor amount that can be solved with a quick sand. Mine came completely tuned out of the box, didn't have to adjust the infeed/outfeed tables at all. Haven't had the nerve to try endgrain through it yet, but the salesman at Woodcraft mentioned that he had the same planer and had no issues doing so. I just use a shop vac for dust collection and it does a decent job, but still have to blow out dust/chips every once in a while. I imagine with a better dust collection system it wouldn't be an issue. Would highly recommend for the garage woodworker who is limited on space. I think the only way to make it better would be to make it bigger (more width capacity) and to somehow adopt the same system as the Dewalt 735 to raise and lower the cutter head and eliminate the need to unlock the carriage, adjust the cutter head, and relock after each pass, but that's nothing to complain about.

Just WOW.
I needed a planer same day to replace my benchtop model. My obvious thought was going with the Dewalt, but when I called my WC they said they had this new guy in. A Dewalt with a Shelix upgrade would run you about $1300 (and I've heard and can tax the motor pretty bad) this came with the Shelix and the Wixey for less. So I took a chance. Boy am I glad I did. Feels great and sturdy. Checked with calipers, everything was amazingly in tune right out of the box, even the extension wings. Ran some really figured Sapele through it and it came out like glass. Dust collection gets about 90% of chips, but I'm running it on the world's worst shop vac, I imagine it's pristine with actual dust collection. I cried walking out of the store, stopped when my first boards went through. Highly recommend.
